The appointment returns Francesca Bellettini to the house where her career within Kering began. She joined Gucci in 2003 as Strategic Planning Director and Associate Worldwide Merchandising Director, before moving to Bottega Veneta in 2008 and to Saint Laurent, which she led as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2013.

Immediately prior to the appointment she held group-level responsibility as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Kering in charge of brand development, a role announced in September 2023.

The role moved her responsibilities from the leadership of a single house to group level, concerned with the development of brands across the Kering portfolio. She had led Saint Laurent as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2013.

She held the position for more than a decade, remaining in the role after her appointment as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Kering in September 2023.

Holding merchandising and communications within one remit places what a house produces and how it presents itself under a single responsibility rather than in separate functions.

She was appointed Worldwide Merchandising and Communications Director of the house in 2010.

Prior to joining the group she had begun her career in London as an investment banker, worked in the Business Planning and Development division of the Prada Group, and served as Operations Manager for Helmut Lang.
